Due to recent abuses, the form for adding email addresses to the rwald-update_list has been removed.

Page History

v5 4/05/2003 At the suggestion of my father, I've completely redesigned the site. Unlike many previous versions, this version adds basically no new functionality. I've reorganized everything, but beyond that, there's no new JavaScript or DHTML goodies. However, the whole visual feel of the page has been changed. I've gotten rid of my gray background, and my logo. The aim is to give the site a more "professional" feel. I hope it has succeeded.

v4 9/08/2002 YES!! Finally, version 4 is here! The entire layout has changed. Here are some of the bigger differences: The old, 4-frames layout has been replaced by a much more effective, one-page layout. Now, search engines and legacy browsers can view this page with ease! Also, it has a “cleaner” look to it; everything is on one page, and the layout is simpler. Beyond the obvious changes, I also added the Deep Thoughts script at the top of the page. Why? I realized that, because of my new layout, I would have a banner-ad shaped blank space at the top of each page. Rather than dirty my page with advertisement, I decided to add something humorous to the page. Now, you can read a random Deep thought on every page! Another change was the JavaScripts sub-heading. Since I'm far more likely to add new JavaScripts to this page than new essays, now I'll have somewhere to put them. Also, I removed some of the extraneous pages which only added clutter; it gives the page a more organized feel. Overall, this page is a major advancement over all previous versions.

v3.35 4/20/2002 As you may or may not have known, I made a reference page a while back, with forms for all different search engines. There were about 10 forms on that page, and you would find the one you wanted and use that. Well, anyway, I've changed it. Now, there is only one form (well, three, really, but I couldn't work with the translations). You simply type in your search term, select your search engine from the drop-down box, select the search engine's options (which change from engine to engine; I borrowed this code from my Links page), and click Search. That search engine will open up in a new window with your search. Now, I can add endless search engines, without having to figure out how their forms work or make the page any longer. If you have any engines to recommend, just email me or say something in the guestbook. Anyway, enjoy!

v3.3 3/26/2002 OK, this version is pretty unique as far as versions are concerned. While all other versions were improvements to the site, this version is actually a step backwards. Why am I doing it, then? My dad made me. Let me be a bit more specific. My dad was worried about the Guestbook thing I had. He feared that someone would write, "Hi, I'm Randy, and I'm a idiot," or something defamatory like that, and that you would think less of me (and of him, by extension) for it. I personally have a slightly higher respect for your intelligence, but I think he probably would have deleted this site from the server if I didn't change something. So, there is no longer a CGI server running the Guestbook; it's all done with JavaScript. When you click the submit button, your name, message, etc. are all put into the body of an email as HTML. You just click "send" on this email, and I'll copy-paste the HTML into the site. Sorry to make this more complicated, but you know how parents are.

v3.2 3/26/2002 I've finished the next update of the site. Unlike previous updates, this isn't just about technical bells and whistles. It's also about graphical bells and whistles. I was advised that one thing my site lacked was graphics, so I turned all of the nav bars into graphical nav bars. Also, while I was at it, I moved the email box to the bottom, so it won't get in the way of the left nav bar. So, I am now on my way to a graphically interesting site.

v3.1 3/05/2002 You won't believe this. I actually added content. Well, sort of. Have a look at the new "My Opinions" heading. So far, the various subheadings are still mostly links to external sites, but I do have some content there, and it gives me a place to add more content. Also, the CSS I've been adding recently has finally come into its own; try looking at the mouse hovers for both the menus and for normal links! And the background stays still, too. Anyway, that's all the coding I can do in one night. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to even more content.

v3 2/28/2002 Site navigation completely changed (well, mostly changed). Top nav bar added, along with changing side bar. It will be much easier to add content in the future (assuming that I ever have content!). I would tweak the colors more, or something, but I'm tired now. Any further minor changes will be denoted by a minor build number.

v2.6 2/28/2002 A few additions this time: I changed the page heads; that "My HomePage" graphic was getting a bit old, so I replaced it with my signature. Also, I added two new pages: a guestbook, and a list of other places on the Web where I hang out. I've wanted a guestbook for some time; I finally found a place where I could get a guestbook for free with no ads. Go ahead and post to your heart's content. Also, I decided to inform the masses about my other homes on the Web; as of now, the list is a bit small, but I will add to it as appropriate. Lastly, I created a mailing list to keep everyone updated about the site. Basically, when I add anything to this page, you'll get an email. So, if you don't want to keep checking this page for updates, now you don't have to. Anyway, that's all for now.

v2.5 2/18/2002 I moved the Software from the Links page to its own separate page. I also renamed News to Blog, because I realized that that was a more accurate term to use.

v2.4 1/9/2002 I further tweaked the links; now there are categories as well as links. Cool! Alone, this probably would not have warranted a whole .09 increase, but I also added some color to the nav bar. Together, that makes a full .09 improvement.

v2.31 1/7/2002 As I suspected, I fiddled with the Links page some more. Now, only the really important links have icons. Also, I made it easier to add links to the list.

v2.3 1/7/2002 I changed the Links page to a JavaScript-based link list. This way, I can have lots of links, without worrying that the page will look crowded. I'm still refining it a bit; a 2.31 version may come out soon.

v2.21 1/1/2002 After investigating my options, I changed to a different counter; this one also keeps other site statistics. I also removed the link to where the first counter came from.

v2.2 12/31/2001 The News page was added. Basically, I got bored of having the Hotmail rant on the front page, so I created another place to put it. Also, the counter was added. Click on it for the place I got it from.

v2.1 11/27/2001 The Reference Materials page was added. (Thanks to Alan H. for the idea; visit him here.) Finally, this page has content worth looking at!

v2.0 2001 This was a complete overhaul. Navigation bar added; biography brought online; multi-page format applied. This was a significant advance. Compare it to the old version.

v1.0 1995 This was the first edition of the page. I made it when I was ten, back in 1995. It has been updated since then (the Links section was added, the A NAME tags were put in, the email address was masked), but the basic format remained the same. The page really wasn't all that good. You can see it here for historical purposes, but it will no longer be updated.
